Lanes reopened after multi-vehicle crash which closed A1 this afternoon


All lanes have been reopened after a multiple vehicle crash on the A1M Northbound between J63 (Stanley) and J64 (Washington), first reported at around 2:10pm today (August 5).

Police attended the incident, while a specialist carriageway sweeper was also in attendance.

A National Highways spokesperson said there are no residual delays in the area.

Speaking at the time of the incident, they said: “Lanes 2 and 3 (of 3) are closed on the A1M northbound between J63 (Stanley) and J64 (Washington) due to a multi-vehicle collision.

“Police are on scene, and a specialist carriageway sweeper is in attendance.”
